FOUR TYPES OF KINTETSU RAIL PASS AND HOW TO USE THEM

Take note that this rail pass is only on the Kintetsu and Iga-Tetsudo line, so if the areas you want to visit are not on their line, this pass won’t be worth it. So better check the stations it will stop first and see what attractions are there so you can plan your itinerary.

There are 4 different types of this pass you can choose from:

  • 1 Day Pass (Osaka - Nara - Kyoto + Unlimited bus rides in Nara Kotsu Bus lines, with designated areas only)
  • 2 Day Pass (Osaka - Nara - Kyoto + Unlimited bus rides in Nara Kotsu Bus lines, with designated areas only)
  • Kintetsu Rail Pass (Osaka - Nara - Kyoto - Ise-shima - Nagoya + Unlimited bus rides in Nara Kotsu Bus lines)

IMPORTANT!

Before you purchase a Kintetsu Rail Pass: When you buy this pass, they will ask you when you will use it, so plan your itinerary ahead and carefully. This pass is valid from midnight to midnight. What’s that?

Ex. You plan to use it on January 20, the pass starts its countdown when you can use it. From January 20 at 12:00am - 11:59pm, just think of it as a Cinderella effect.

WHERE DO YOU BUY THEM?

MY ADVICE:

It may be overwhelming reading all this, but once you’ve purchased this you’ll understand how easy it is to use the Kintetsu rail pass. Kansai region is more train-friendly to foreigners visiting Japan for the first time. When you purchase this rail pass there’s a map of the stations you can only take and guides on how to take the train and buses, it’s really helpful even if you have no sense of direction like me. Just follow the signs on the stations and you won’t get confused which line to take, maybe just a little confusing but easy to understand.  Go to Tokyo and the complexity of the train rides is TRIPLE!

Basic rule when traveling in Japan? Always have your passport with you. There may be instances they will check your pass on the stations and your passport. Happy traveling!
